Hailing from the sweet Saskatchewan prairies, Janaya and Jolissa Trudel pair up to form a vibrant sister-duo, embodying both joy and depth in one double-batted swing. Having played music side by side their entire lives, their soul-stretching lyrics, organic sound, and airtight harmonies are a force to be reckoned with. Though young, their music is mature and introspective, and their lighthearted presence on stage bears a life of it’s own. Unafraid to touch on the subjects of sorrow and ecstacy and everything in-between, the sisters' music is anchored in authenticity and buoyed up by hope, making for art that is both easy to swallow and nourishing all at once.
Over the past two years, “Jay and Jo” have been seen in small venues across Canada, from record shop stages in British Columbia to east coast house concerts in Nova Scotia. In the summer of 2017, they were featured musicians on Canada's VIA railway, sharing their music with listeners from all around the world. The sisters have been featured at the ‘Roots Café’ for the 2016 SCMAs (Saskatchewan Country Music Awards), been nominated for Roots Artist of the Year (SCMA 2017), Nominated for Roots/Emerging Artist (SCMA 2019) have played their music on television for the Timberline Music Show, and recorded and released their debut album, "Grounded and Light" in the summer of 2017. They will be back in the studio this summer to record their second full-length release.
